Arthur Betz Laffer (/lfr/; born August 14, 1940) is an American economist who rose to prominence as a member of Ronald Reagan’s Economic Policy Advisory Board from 1981 to 1989. Laffer is well known for the Laffer curve, which depicts the idea that there is a tax rate between 0% and 100% that will generate the most tax income for governments. Supply Side Economics: Financial Decision-Making for the 1980s is one of his numerous books and newspaper articles. Laffer is the Free Enterprise Fund’s Policy Co-Chairman (together with Lawrence “Larry” Kudlow) and a member of the American Legislative Exchange Council’s “Board of Scholars.”
